SKIC (Sigdo Koppers Ingieneria Y Construccion), one of the main Engineering and Construction companies in Latin America, won 30 suppliers and was awarded by Vale for being the best company in the management of SSMAC – Health, Safety, Environment and Communities, in the first half of 2022, in the work of the Sol do Cerrado Project. Winning this award gives SKIC the opportunity to compete, at the end of this year, for the “Golden Helmet”, the project’s highest award to its suppliers.
To win the SSMAC award, SKIC carried out critical and challenging activities, with proactive actions to avoid adversities and accidents, maintaining a lot of transparency in activities and giving total priority to the integrity of employees in the construction of the 230 KV transmission line and 15 km of extension, which connects the Sol do Cerrado collector substation to the Jaíba (MG) substation. The line interconnects Vale’s photovoltaic plant with 17 sub-parks, which make up one of the largest solar energy generation plants in Latin America, with an installed capacity of 766 Megawatts-peak (MWp) and an energy production capacity of 1.7 Gigawatt-hours. per year (GWh/year) – to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
“SKIC was committed to the purpose of delivering the work before the established deadline, prioritizing the health and safety of all our employees. Receiving this recognition from the Sol do Cerrado Project is a source of great pride and reinforces our commitment to continue working within this high standard of quality, with safety for employees, the surrounding communities and the environment. It is a great achievement for SKIC”, emphasizes Robson Campos, SKIC Country Manager in Brazil.
